Collio Area

Norina Pez winery is located in Dolegna del Collio, a small village in the Collio Area, at the extreme eastern edge of the region, in the northernmost point of Province of Gorizia, on the border with Slovenia.

This particular geographical location gives to our wines a D.O.C Guarantee and ideal growing conditions. Dolegna del Collio, with its mostly hilly territory stretching from the borderline with Slovenia down to the rivers Isonzo and Judrio, has mainly south oriented slopes, particularly suitable for growing wine grapes (high quality viticulture).

The region’s equidistance from the Austrian Alps to the North and the Adriatic Sea to the south, creates a sunny and breezy micro climate.

Collio’s soil is made up of sandstone from Eocene origin, brought to the surface in ancient times by the lifting of the Adriatic seabed; these rock formations easily break up under the action of atmospheric agents creating a soil that, over the seasons, turns into an ideal substratum for viticulture.

The climate is another excellent ally: ventilation is constant and rain abundant.

The water supply, well distributed over the year, benefits superficial layers of the land, which guarantees hydration even in the hottest periods. Moreover, the hill conformation of the area leads to discrete temperature changes between day and night.

In this charmed location, Norina Pez's winery has its headquarter: 10 hectares, of which 7 of vineyards.
